TRADING CARD LIBRARY

The Gameday Fan Collector Profile

Always loved sport and collected Rugby League and Cricket bubble gum cards back when I was a kid. Didn't know back then how valuable some of them would become so as with many kids of the era they ended up banged up at the bottom of a toy draw. It was the early 90's that I started to follow the hobby when I purchased my first card packets from a vending machine. In the mid to late 90's I went on to amass a large collection and began to sell them online with the explosion of the internet. During the late 90's I opened my own trading card shop an operated this for a couple of years until I realised I could do this by selling on eBay. In the early 2000's I operated an eBay store selling a wide range of sports and non sports trading cards. Since the late 90's I have just become a fan of the hobby neither collecting or selling just loving the hobby.
What got me hooked on trading cards ?
Purchasing packets of 1994 Rugby League Dynamic Marketing Masters from a vending machine. I pulled my first trading card insert in my first packet purchased, a Jason Smith Captains Choice insert. I loved the look of these cards and went on to collect a full set of the commons and inserts and the high class official folder for the release.

What is the greatest hit you have cracked ?
1994 Classic basketball Shaq Autographs beating the odds. We purchased 3 boxes of this product very cheap back in the late 90's as they were being dumped out for around $20.00 per box. We cracked these just for fun and wow did we get a surprise. The odds of hitting a Shaq Autograph card was around 1:9000 packets or 1 in approximately 250 boxes. You don't expect to hit 2 in one box let alone 1 in two consecutive packets. Having just recovered from the excitement of hitting a Shaq auto we opened the next packet and wham !!

What is your favourite release of all time ?
Suprisingly being a sports nut my favourite set of all time is from the non sport world. Would have to be 1993 Skybox The Simpsons Series 1. Just love the common cards and the overall fun of the collection. The wiggle cards had me hooked and the search for the Art DeBart was a challenge.
