Scanlens VFL Trading Cards
In 1963 Scanlens starting producing VFL cards with the 1963 release today very rare to find and in high demand. The Polly Farmer card from this release has fetched as much as $1000 when it appears on the market. Only 16 cards make up this set but complete sets are very rare.
In 1964 the cards remained much the same but the product expanded to a 33 card set.
In 1966 the cards were produced for the first time in the trading card dimensions we come to expect these days. The set also grew to a 72 cards collection.
The 1967 set is very distinctive with it's television set design. In 1968 cam the first year where Scanlens released two sets 68a and 68b.
The 1970 set is for some reason hard to find these days, may have been due to a decreased print run.
In 1973 Scanlens once again produced two sets a series a and series b. 1974 heralded the first Scanlens release of over 100 cards with this set comprising 132 cards. 1975 and 1976 release followed on with the same make up and the cards looked very similar.
The 1979 release is personally my favourite design. I love this vintage look of card.
In 1987 Scanlens produced it's final VFL card set of the era although since then there has been some more recent one of Scanlens cards produced.
