Through the 1960's , 70's and 80's Scanlens rugby league cards were produced and collected by kids and adults throughout Australia. The first set hitting the market in 1963. In 1988 Stimorol cards hit the market and were produced until 1991.In 1992 and 1993 the Regina collections hit the market. In 1994 Dynamic Marketing took over the contract for producing rugby league cards in Australia and produced multiple release per season up until the final release they made of Fatty's Fun Packs in 1997. In 1997 the company Intrepid also produced a release to celebrate the break away competition of the Superleague. The market then was devoid of main stream release until the arrival of the company Select Australia in to the Market in the year 2000. Select Australia produced one major release per season from the year 2000 through to 2005. In 2005 Select Australia started producing 2 main stream release plus special series for premiership teams. In 2012 they produced the final release for the company Series 2 Dynasty. Since 1998 the Daily Telegraph have also produced a series of rugby league cards available through redemption via coupons in the newspaper. The Courier Mail in Queensland has also produced a release since 1999. Late 2012 and then in 2013 a new player for Rugby League trading cards has entered the market ESP ( Elite Sports Properties ). Late 2012 they produced a limited edition release to introduce their style to the market and since then have produced NRL Traders, NRL Power Play and the newly released NRL Elite. |
