Overall 2011 select NRL Champions fails to deliver on some increased expectations amongst dealers and collectors alike. The common champions card set is well produced but not spectacular. The card quality is a little below par and the packaging makes for difficult opening. The overall design of the set and prmotional materials is ok without being spectacular. Have a look below at our reviews of all the card levels in the set.

Common CardsThe common cards are a simple design on the front with a range of action shots and some close up head shots of players. The backs of the cards are done in the colours of the team and are very destinctive. The card is thinner than previous years release but very few poorly cut cards or aligned cards have been produced. Each team has 12 cards with a good selection of players. They have managed to get the majority of player listings correct with the transfered players in the new team colours.

Silver Parallel ( 1 per packet )The silver parallel found one per pack are an improvement on the repetative jersey parallels of previous seasons. Although some cards have been coming out of packets with slight damage and some cards have shown roller marks from printing. The overall design of the cards is appealing and due to the distribution of cards across boxes the team sets will be harder to collect this year. The back of the card is especially well designed and very distinctive for each team. The checklist cards in silver look great.

2010 NRL Rookie ( 1:9 Packets )
For me the real let down card for this series. For a 1:9 packets insert the cards are very low quality. A great idea in theory as in the future one of these players may become a superstar and the rookie card may hold some value but the quality of the card is a negative. A simple card with foil stamping. I don't mind the design but possibly would have been better served as a complete foil insert card.

Stardom Mascot Gem ( 1:18 Packets )
Another in the line of the Select gem card technology that they began using in 2007. This set boasts 18 cards , one from each team plus an extra card from Penrith and Canberra. The cards look ok and the selection of players provides a few highlights. The inclusion of Todd Carney , Josh Dugan , Akuila Uate and Michael Gordan may make for some future value. Overall an average insert set release. The quality of the cards is good.

Rookie Sensation ( 1:36 Packets )
This Insert set could be the highlight of the series. Found only 1 per box the gold foil finish features bold colour text and design for the team making the insert stand out. If one of the represented rookies amkes it big than the insert from this set may become highly sort after. The card needs to be treated with the utmost care to be kept in mint condition. A good selection of highlighted rookies from last year and any one of a few could become highly collectable.

NRL Star Signatures ( 1:144 Packets )The rarest card in this release found 1 in every 4 boxes or 3 per case. With 8 in the set completing a set will be difficult. The card quality is no better than the commons or other cards in the set. The card design is well layed out and they are appealing to the eye. Time will tell the value they will hold but the selection of players does provide some new signatures to collect.
