About Us
I would like to introduce myself to you all and give a little background to my History in the Sports Trading Card Hobby. My name is Peter Thompson and I have been both a collector and seller in the Trading Card Hobby over the past 15 to 20 years. I first began buying trading cards in Brisbane in the early 90's and began to build my collection. I collected a wide range of sports trading cards but mainly NBA basketball and rugby league. This led to me opening my own Trading Card Shop front
( Card Heroes ),during the collecting Boom of the early to mid 90's. This store was located in the hinterland of the Gold Coast and operated for around one and a half years. Then came the internet. Realizing that the hobby of collecting did not require you to have a shop front to operate I closed my store in the late 90's and began to sell online via a website called stuff. Then I discovered ebay and began to operate a very successful ebay shop called Gameday Trading Cards which then evolved into Gameday Collectables. This operated until 2008 when I decided to take a different direction in the industry.
My focus since then has been on developing ideas for the website Gamedaytradingcards.com. As you can see I have experienced the Hobby from all angles except for producing the product and have a love for the hobby and the sports that it promotes. I have always been a mad sports fan as well and follow the NRL , AFL , NBA , A-League etc...etc.. . If they play it then more than likely I will love to watch it. I also have another website which focuses on sport in the development stage.
